When visiting Manila, Philippines, you must stay at the historic Manila Hotel

There are a number of new and modern hotels that dot the city of Manila, but there is only one hotel that embodies the spirit and history of the country and that is Manila Hotel.

Located in the heart of the city of Manila, Manila Hotel was designed by William Parsons who also supervised the construction of the hotel which was initially planned by city planner Daniel Hudson Burnham. The California Missionary-styled building is right in the center of Luneta Park, and just a walk away from Intramuros, the oldest district in Manila which was once the bastion of the Spanish Empire in the Philippines. It also afford its guests the best view of the famed Manila sunset. The hotel at its opening in 1912 had 149 spacious high-ceiling rooms.  General Douglas MacArthur together with his family made the hotel their home, and was given the title of “General Manager” to defray the cost of their stay. The hotel was occupied by the Japanese in World War II and was set on fire during the Battle for the Liberation of Manila. The shell of the building survived and was reconstructed.  The hotel was not able to reclaim its glory days, but in 1975 it was totally renovated and a new wing was added. It underwent another renovation in 2008 with more facilities added.

Today, Manila Hotel has 570 rooms and suites including the MacArthur suite, a tribute to its famous guest.  Its facilities and services include a MacArthur Club Lounge, Business Center, Swimming Pool and Garden, Health Club, and a Spa and Wellness Center. The hotel boasts 4 restaurants, 3 bars, and a delicatessen. It still plays hosts to international celebrities, foreign dignitaries, and significant events in the country. Its strategic location makes it ideal for travelers from around the world to enjoy the sights and attractions of Manila.

Step back in time, savor its rich history, and enjoy luxurious accommodation in Manila Hotel. Consult your travel agent for more details.
