Things to do in Ochos Rios

The name Ocho Rios is Spanish for 'Eight Rivers'. And indeed this town is abundantly endowed with waterways and rivers that can rival the Amazon Basin. Ocho Rios is a town in Jamaica's north coast parish of Saint Ann. Just outside the town is the historic Columbus Park where one can see maritime artifacts and Spanish colonial buildings. But what can you do from within Ocho Rios?

1. Sightsee at Dunns Falls

One of the most beautiful falls in the Caribbean, Dunns Falls has managed to keep the tourist numbers going up every year. It is one of the few waterfalls that one can actually go into and take photographs. Although not as big as Niagara Falls on the US-Canadian Border or the Victoria Falls on the Zambia-Zimbabwe border, the falls are nevertheless a sight to behold.

2. Marvel at Marine Animals in Dolphin Cove

Dolphin Cove is one of the few places that one can actually swim and interact with dolphins, sharks, and stingrays in their natural environment. If you find your kicks in venturing into danger, then the sharks at Dolphin Cove will drive your adrenaline pump to an intoxicating high.

3. Relax and unwind at James Bond Beach

With brightly painted changing rooms, a water sports center, a bar, and a restaurant; James Bond Beach in Oracabessa Bay is one of the best Caribbean beaches to engage in water sports. Why don’t you hit the surfs and learn how to do the twist in the treacherous waves of Caribbean Sea High tides and then relax with a bottle of beer in the evening listening to the reggae beats on the sound system?

4. Relax at the Enchanted Gardens

Enchanted Gardens is a beautiful resort that is perched on an 8-hectares piece of land near Ocho Rios, St. Ann, Jamaica. It is a nice place to enjoy nature. It boasts 14 natural waterfalls and a jungle-like atmosphere. If you love your outdoors without venturing too far into the woods, then Enchanted Gardens will be a good choice to stay.
