Spain- Adventure is in it's DNA

After the Spanish conquistadors conquered much of Latin America, the country amassed a lot of wealth; wealth which would later help the country build some of the best tourist facilities in the world. As much as a person would like to say that the country is rich and that is why it has so many adventure destinations, one cannot deny the fact that the country is endowed with very beautiful natural adventure destinations. Below is an attempt to list the top such destinations.

1. Pyrenees Mountains

A few minutes’ drive from the city of Barcelona is one of the most wonderful places to visit on earth. The Pyrenees are surrounded by beautiful vineyards and have the 'postcard' backdrop of scenic ice-capped mountains. You can hike, sample the wines, explore the vineyards, sample the Spanish cuisines, ride a horse, mountain-bike and many more adventure sports.

2. Ibiza

This is a Spanish island located about 75 kilometers off the coast of the city of Valencia on Eastern Spain. If your idea of adventure is clubbing throughout the week, this island will not disappoint. You can go to nightclubs such as Space, Privilege, Amnesia, Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel, Pacha, DC10, Eden, and Es Paradis. Large portions of the island are also UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will love exploring this ancient island.

3. Sierra Nevada

If you are into outdoorsy stuff, then these mountain ranges that are located in the provinces of Granada and Almería in Spain will not disappoint. From skiing to ice rock climbing to mountaineering, this region will always have something interesting for the adventurous-hungry tourists.

4. Montserrat

This is a multi-peaked mountain located in the Spanish city of Barcelona. The main peaks of the mountain include; Sant Jeroni (1,236 m), Montgrós (1,120 m) and Miranda de les Agulles (903 m). The peaks are all accessible via trails or via a funicular for those who do not like doing a lot of legwork.

5. Buen Retiro Park

For those who are travelling to the city of Madrid and have no time to venture out of the city, perhaps you should try the Buen Retiro Park that is located in the heart of Madrid. This magnificent park is filled with monuments, sculptures, gardens, artificial lake, some species of birds and fishes, galleries and many more attractions.

Spain is a good place to vacation if you are looking for a European holiday experience. The country has a complete package for all types of tourists. Whether you are a sports enthusiast, an outdoors enthusiasts or a beach kind of tourist, the country will have a variety of destinations for you to choose from.
